ICCP, ICAF and Sacrificial Anode Protection for Ship Hulls and Offshore Structures
Protection for marine and offshore
MPE Cathodic protects ship hulls, quay facilities and offshore structures against corrosion and fouling using ICCP, ICAF, sacrificial anodes (SACP), slip rings and shaft earthing systems. Our tailor-made solutions ensure long-term protection and stable operations in harsh environments, preventing costly repairs and downtime.
Technology
All MPE Cathodic products are based on proven technology. However, every product is always subject to improvement. That is why we listen carefully to customer requirements and suggestions to create added value wherever possible. We are proud of our ICCP rectifiers, which we consider to be world-class.
ICCP – Cathodic protection
ICCP (Impressed Current Cathodic Protection) protects metal structures against corrosion using powered anodes. Our systems provide long-term protection with minimal maintenance.
We have over 40 years of experience with ICCP systems, including collaboration with Jotun on several generations of rectifiers. We also offer service and spare parts for both our own and third-party ICCP installations.
Sacrificial Anodes (SACP)
Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection (SACP) is a passive alternative to ICCP, using anodes that corrode in place of the protected structure. MPE Cathodic supplies sacrificial anodes in aluminium, which offer higher current output and longer service life than traditional zinc anodes. SACP requires no external power source, making it a reliable, low-maintenance option for hulls, appendages and smaller structures where continuous power supply is impractical.
ICAF – Anti-fouling
ICAF (Impressed Current Anti Fouling) prevents fouling on hulls, seawater intakes and pipelines by releasing copper ions that stop shells and barnacles from attaching. This ensures efficient operation and reduces maintenance needs.
We deliver complete ICAF systems, including anodes made of copper, aluminium or soft iron—adapted to different environments and requirements. Our solutions maintain effective cooling for engines and compressors, extending the lifespan of critical equipment.
Slip Rings and Shaft Earthing Systems
We supply durable slip rings, also known as shaft earthing devices, with silver-graphite brushes for propeller shafts, adapted to shaft diameters from Ø 80 to Ø 800 mm. More than 7,000 units have been delivered, known for their durability and reliability.
Box coolers and oil coolers
We are proud to represent NRF (Nederlandse Radiateuren Fabriek) in Norway. As the inventor of the box cooler, NRF delivers solid and reliable products. We provide quick feedback, spare parts and service to ensure optimal cooling.
Anodes and special products
We supply a complete range of anodes and reference electrodes for cathodic protection and anti-fouling systems:
- ICAF anodes (copper, aluminium and soft iron) – prevent fouling in seawater intakes and piping systems.
- Sacrificial anodes (aluminium) – protect ship hulls without the need for an external power source, more effective than traditional zinc anodes.
- ICCP anodes for quay facilities – enable remote monitoring and adjustment for optimal protection of port and harbour structures.
- ICCP anodes and reference electrodes – provide long-term corrosion protection and accurate monitoring of potential differences.
Circuit boards and customized solutions
We develop tailor-made electronic solutions for control systems, in collaboration with Enerpro in the USA. This includes thyristor control and regulation boards adapted to specific needs.
